by | Oct 13, 2023 | #Men, Community, Next Step

Please join us in celebrating Sean Thornton, Men’s Program Coordinator at The Magdalen House! We are so excited to have join the team as we introduce our Next Step program to men!

1. What do you do at The Magdalen House, and what does a “typical” day look like for you?

I am the Program Coordinator for the Magdalen House Men’s Program. My primary duties are to facilitate the Men’s Next Step Program, coordinate men’s 12-step meetings and create awareness for this new program.

2. What is your favorite line in the Big Book and why?

My favorite quote from the book is,

“Much to our relief, we discovered we did not need to consider another’s conception of God.”

Once I really understood that this was not a religious program, I was much more willing to work these steps, and ultimately find a path to long-term recovery as well as a closer connection to a higher power, which was missing from my life before finding recovery.

3. What’s something you’ve witnessed at The Magdalen House that inspires or moves you?

I am inspired most by the dedication and sincere desire of the staff to help people in recovery! The effort that goes in, to provide these no-cost services to men and women is truly God working through these people.

4. How has working at The Magdalen House impacted your life?

Working for this organization has given me a new sense of purpose and has already improved my knowledge of the Big Book as well as my ability to transmit the solution to others.

5. What are some of your hobbies, or things that you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

In my spare time I enjoy playing guitar, and bass guitar. I also enjoy reading, attending recovery meetings, and sponsoring other addicts & alcoholics.

6. What’s something that we may not know about you?

I was actually born here in Dallas, Texas and I have lived here all my life.
