Please join us in celebrating Heather Barriere, Operations Coordinator, at The Magdalen House! We are so excited to have her join the team!

1. What do you do at The Magdalen House, and what does a “typical” day look like for you?

As Operations Coordinator I help ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly within The Magdalen House. I provide support to all staff to ensure that they have the resources needed to run their programs successfully.

2. What is your favorite line in the Big Book and why? Or what is your favorite quote and why?

“Just to the extent that we do as we think He would have us, and humbly rely on Him, does He enable us to match calamity with serenity.”

When I place my reliance on my Higher Power, and not on myself, He always provides! Every. Single. Time.

3. What’s something you’ve witnessed at The Magdalen House that inspires or moves you?

Watching women and men transform their lives and recover from what often seems like a “hopeless state of mind” has been incredibly inspiring. Witnessing the promises come true and seeing the positive changes in so many lives is truly a highlight of my day, and such a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

4. How has working at The Magdalen House impacted your life?

Working here has impacted my life by filling it with a renewed sense of purpose and passion. It’s truly an honor to be part of an organization that not only values its staff, but is also dedicated to reaching as many individuals affected by alcoholism as possible, while helping them find a meaningful solution.

5. What are some of your hobbies, or things that you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Outside of work, I’m usually cheering on my kids at their various sports and activities and spending quality time with my family. I also enjoy listening to a good true crime podcast and reading as many books as I can.

6. What is something we may not know about you?

I am a naturally curious person and have a love for learning new things, I think that is why I became a teacher, to help others discover their own passion for learning.
