Please join us in celebrating Kendall Bose, Outreach and Development Coordinator at The Magdalen House! She is looking forward to sharing how our mission impacts communities through her new role. We are so excited to have her join the team!
1. What do you do at The Magdalen House, and what does a “typical” day look like for you?
I am the Outreach and Development Coordinator. I work with both the Development and Outreach teams to develop relationships with community partners and donors.
2. What is your favorite line in the Big Book and why?
“I get everything I need in Alcoholics Anonymous—and everything I need I get. And when I get what I need, I invariably find that it was just what I wanted all the time.” Page 552, Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous
My favorite line in the Big Book is “A Doctor said to us “Years of living with an alcoholic is almost sure to make any wife or child neurotic. The entire family is, to some extent, ill.” Let families realize, as they start their journey, that all will not be fair weather.”
As a person who is not an alcoholic, but has an alcoholic mother, I resonate with this line very much. It shows why this illness affects our communities so intensely, as it does not just affect one individual. I think it helps encompass why I feel so passionate about this cause and why I wanted to bring my passion for non-profit to Maggie’s.
3. What’s something you’ve witnessed at The Magdalen House that inspires or moves you?
I have not been here very long, but I came in the Monday after a very hard week for the team. Seeing everyone support each other, mentally and emotionally was beautiful and it really made me so proud to become part of this organization.
4. How has working at The Magdalen House impacted your life?
I believe it will impact my life by giving me more insight into the world of alcoholism and recovery, I know it will show me sides that I never thought about or considered.
5. What are some of your hobbies, or things that you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I love making art. I draw, paint, and make crafts whenever I have free time! I also love to read and am a big history and true crime buff.
6. What’s something that we may not know about you?
I love K-pop which is Korean pop music and spend a lot of my free time in K-town which is a Korea town located in Carrollton.
