1. What is your role at The Magdalen House, and what does a “typical” day look like for you?
I am a Program Coordinator in the First Step program. Day to day includes phone screenings for intakes into the First Step program, being vigilant and pro-active with clients’ needs and concerns, active listening to staff and clients, facilitating peer recovery meetings, and sharing personal experiences with 12 steps, and spirituality.
2. What is your favorite line in the Big Book and why?
“God is everything or else He is nothing.
-Page 53
Problems continue to happen after sobriety and God is more powerful than alcohol. God is more powerful than any problem that may seem to have us down. “No man is an island”, for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.
3. What’s something you’ve witnessed at The Magdalen House that inspires or moves you?
What must inspire me is the community spirit and all the selfless giving. The word altruism always interested me. At The Magdalen House, I have actually witnessed it.
4. How has working at The Magdalen House impacted your life?
Working at The Magdalen House has allowed me to use my liabilities as assets. Every day I am reminded how God can change anyone in a matter of days. A lady will arrive completely broken, and within weeks you can look in the eyes of the same lady and see a bright light.
5. What are some of your hobbies, or things that you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I truly enjoy dancing, laughing, music, and traveling.
6. What’s something that we may not know about you?
I am very nearsighted, and if it were not for contacts, I would wear some really thick glasses…. and I love documentaries.
About Rosalind Jones
Rosalind Jones began her work in nonprofits when she became a Program Coordinator in 2019, two years after completing The Magdalen House First Step program.
Rosalind arrived at The Magdalen House in January of 2017 with a missing person and broken. During her stay, she learned that although she felt hopeless and wanted to die, she probably would live and keep relapsing over and over. She became willing to accept spiritual help through sponsorship, the 12 Steps, and spiritual principles, and Rosalind was able to begin a life of sobriety. She stayed close to Maggie’s fellowship by volunteering and attending meetings at The Magdalen House.
Through her recovery, she found her passion for serving women in recovery. She is honored to be a part of The Magdalen House team, working alongside other women who are passionate about the mission.
