Bringing the Community Together Through Food | 4DWN

We are so excited to highlight the unwavering generosity of 4DWN, a non-profit dedicated to bringing the community together through food.

4DWN is an organization rooted in skateboarding culture, established by prominent skaters Mike Crum and Rob Cahill in 2015. In their own words, they are “a unique service-driven community and resilience hub serving the needs of hundreds of kids and families each week, creating upward mobility opportunities, and distributing thousands of pounds of healthy food in a circular, closed-loop fashion.” Their various programs include a skate park, food hub, and food rescue service, which is a volunteer-driven, zero-waste initiative focused on healthy food rescue.

Kady Younkman, our Chief Community Officer, and Kelly Williams, our Community Manager, attended one of their exciting events in 2024. “Grill and Chill Wednesdays” are public event days each week where volunteers come to sort and distribute food donations. There is a cookout, live music, and an invited community partner who speaks on their services. This event invitation gave The Magdalen House team a great platform to educate the public on alcoholism and our services.

As a vital partner to our organization for more than a year, 4DWN has helped ensure that our clients are fed quality, nutritious food.

Organizations like ours can only operate when others are willing to donate items to keep our costs down. Their generosity allows us to serve even more people for free and without government funding. With twice-monthly donations, 4DWN has enabled us to feed not only our in-house clients but also those in our wider community.
