Dr. Randy Hunter joined the Board of Directors of The Magdalen House in the fall of 2023.

Randy is a Licensed Psychologist who has worked at Methodist Dallas Medical Center for 30 years, the last 20 of which have primarily been in the liver and kidney transplant program. In addition to previously having a private practice for over 30 years, he worked on a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation unit and volunteered with HIV/AIDS and Parkinson’s patients and families. As a transplant psychologist, Randy is tasked with helping patients with alcoholic liver disease receive a liver transplant and successfully transition to a healthy lifestyle.

When Randy discovered The Magdalen House a number of years ago, it was truly a Godsend. The Magdalen House has helped numerous women successfully maintain their sobriety and live a fulfilling life post-transplant. Within the past year, several graduates from The Magdalen House have returned to the Liver Institute at Methodist and volunteered to be Transplant Mentors for women struggling with alcoholism pre- and post-transplant. The dedication and generosity of these volunteers has made a profound difference for these patients. The new men’s program will be a wonderful addition to the mentorship program in 2024.

Randy received an MA in Clinical Psychology from Stephen F. Austin University and his PhD in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy at TWU in Denton.
