Over the past 20 years, I have seen many women whose lives have been transformed by The Magdalen House. Miracles really do happen at Maggie’s so it was natural for me to want to support such a wonderful organization. I’ve made financial donations, contributed items to the former garage sale and, at one time, an old dining room table of ours was placed in the dining room of the house! Also, in my role as a registered dietitian nutritionist, I was asked two years ago to present two classes for alumnae about healthy eating and grocery shopping. I love doing anything I can to support the recovery of the women there as I have been so richly blessed in my life.
So when I was asked in January to serve on The Magdalen House Development Committee, I was thrilled to take on this role. Using my professional experience in communication and my volunteer experience in fundraising for other organizations, I could help raise awareness of and money for this amazing place. I am excited to share The Magdalen House story with others who are able to support its mission to help women achieve sobriety and sustain recovery from alcoholism at no cost. It is one way I can do God’s work in the world.
