Please join us in welcoming Raquel Tatum to The Magdalen House team! Raquel found her passion for helping others after working in child protective services for an investigations unit in Kerrville, Texas. As a recovered alcoholic herself, she is delighted to give back to others in recovery at The Magdalen House. We are so grateful to have her join our team as a Program Coordinator!
1. What led you to want to work at The Magdalen House?
I wanted to make an impact and be a part of something bigger than myself. I have a passion for recovery.
For Staff members in recovery, we like to ask a few additional questions:
How did The Magdalen House become part of your life?
I have a lot of friends in the recovery community that went through Maggie’s and I have always been a huge supporter even though I was never a Maggie’s girl myself.
What has been the biggest gift to you in your recovery?
The relationship with my family being rebuilt and being able to be present in their lives today by being a good daughter, sister, and friend. I also met my husband through the recovery community.
What would you tell the woman who is newly sober, or still trying to get sober?
If you do the work honestly and thoroughly, you will see amazing changes in your life for the better.
What is your life like today?
I am married with two cats and a dog living in Seagoville, TX with my husband. I went back to school once I got sober and I am a part-time online student studying social work to help others.
2. As a new team member, what are you most excited about?
I am excited about seeing the life of these women transform into something beautiful while living a life of recovery!
3. What’s something we should know about you?
I love to bake and cook for my friends and family! I also love to sing and dance!
