“I chose to get involved with this project because The Magdalen House cause is so important to me personally. I also loved the idea of working on a historic home, lending my experience and expertise in residential architecture to the project and the opportunity to work with KDC, Omniplan, and BufordHawthorne.”
– Christian Walker, Designer for our New Home

4513 Gaston Avenue – September Highlights

  • Exterior: Pouring concrete has begun.
  • Interior: The cabinets are in, the floors have been restored, and paint and stain colors have been chosen.

September Progress

The construction team has poured the concrete for our back-porch space just outside of the Community Room. Up next, the team will start work on the staff parking area in the back of the house. Landscaping is just around the corner!

The beautiful cabinetry in the kitchen will provide enough storage for all dishes, cookware, and supplies needed to feed for 20+ women at each mealtime. Their design is simple yet sleek and will be painted a light gray to complement the walls, countertops, and flooring.

The walls throughout the home will be a warm, cream color, creating a neutral palette to balance blue, green, and gray hues found in the furniture and decor. The wood flooring, restored in its original form in the front rooms both upstairs and downstairs, will be finished with a warm honey stain to preserve our charming home’s beauty and history. This color combination will create a happy, uplifting space throughout the year.

Tile installation has begun in the laundry room and bathrooms. True to the home’s original period, the bathrooms will feature a creamy white hexagon tile, complemented by the same gray used on the kitchen cabinets. And, in case you haven’t heard, our new home features en suite bathrooms for each bedroom, with an additional two bathrooms downstairs!
