“I feel honored to have the chance to contribute to this Wall of Hope, healing, and health. I’ve been through Maggie’s two times and even though I had terrible bumps in the road, what I learned there HAS stuck with me and kept me sober even through all this COVID-19 mess.”
– Carol Hampton, Social Detox Alunma and Brick Campaign Donor
With the help of our designer, Christian Walker, our new home will give alcoholic women the dignified space they deserve, while paying tribute to our roots and traditions. This month we discussed the overall color and design scheme of the house, reviewed fabric swatches and floor stains, and finalized decorative lighting fixtures for the kitchen, entryway, and dining room areas.
The construction team has started masonry work on the front porch, restoring the wrap-around brick porch to its beautiful, original design. With thoughtfully placed external and landscape lighting that has been approved, the House will be beautiful both day and night.
In addition to continued work on both the HVAC and electric installations, the plumbing for all seven (!) bathrooms, the laundry room, and the kitchen has been installed. And last but not least, we met on-site with a member of the Smart Systems team to discuss all of our internal and external security needs to ensure the safety of both our clients and staff members at all times.
The biggest news this month, however, is the Wall of Hope Brick Campaign that launched last week!
We invite you to purchase a customized brick tile that will live on our Wall of Hope for many years to come. Bricks from, and honoring, women in recovery will face the Meditation Garden, with bricks from advocates and supporters facing the main house. These customized bricks come in two sizes and allow for a personal message of your choice.
NEW: If you are interested in sponsoring a brick to help us ensure that as many alcoholic women who want bricks are afforded the opportunity, please select the “Sponsor A Brick” option.
If you are interested in seeing the new space in person or have any questions about the Wall of Hope Brick Campaign, please contact Kate Richter at firstname.lastname@example.org.
