Do you remember your first time walking through the doors of The Magdalen House? For some of us, it was a difficult step to take, especially if it was to ask for help. Having someone to greet you with love when you get here could be the deciding factor on whether you choose to stay or go.
That First Friendly Face
Having a volunteer at the front desk is such a vital part of making a new woman feel welcomed at Maggie’s. Being the first one to show her around, check her in for a meeting, or take her to the office for an intake is such a privilege. What a blessing it is to have volunteers who represent this community in such a warm and welcoming way!
Greeting people isn’t the only important task our front desk volunteers assist us with. Helping us to more accurately capture data, like meeting attendance and volunteer hours, is crucial to our reporting and grant requests. Because the office isn’t in plain view to the entrance, having a volunteer there to help remind people to sign in or check in with the office has been such a huge help. Not only does it help us reflect more accurate numbers, but it is truly helping with the safety of our clients to know who is here and why.
About Front Desk Admin
Front desk is an opportunity that is available 7 days a week with shifts from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, 1:00 pm-5:00 pm, and 5:00 pm-9:00 pm, covering all of our meeting times. Which means you can be present for a meeting, or two, and volunteer at the same time! All you need to serve in this position is 2 weeks of sobriety, and to complete a brief training session with the Volunteer Program Coordinator before your first shift. Come welcome people with love into our community and be “the face of Maggie’s!”
